He can act, he can write. And he has won big awards for both disciplines. For all we know, the man can also sing and dance and is readying his musical debut. Any way you look at it, Steppenwolf Theatre ensemble member Tracy Letts is a force on the American stage and screen.
And he’s got another new play comin’ at you. Soon.
Running March 30 – May 21, 2017, Letts’s Linda Vista hits the boards at Steppenwolf.
Looking for a destination theatre trip to put some spring in your step? This promises to be one worth traveling for.
April 5-27, Balagan Theatre puts up the sprawling masterpiece AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY by Tracy Letts. Their theatre size is 165, so this should be a great chance to see a Titanic-sized show in a small space.
This is one of the first regional productions of AUGUST I have heard of. Now that the Broadway touring machine has died off (thank god), it will be interesting (and likely much more rewarding) to see what local theatres do with this operatic blast of family dysfunction.
While it’s hard to imagine anyone ever topping the original Steppenwolf cast, an authentic local production of this play should provide some high moments.
So grab a carton of Winstons, a bottle of Old Grand Dad, your favorite book of T.S. Eliot poems, and a few dog-eared novels, and come find out what happened to Beverly Weston.
