When a new play is the best show in town | YOU GOT OLDER by Clare Barron at Page 73 / HERE Arts Center (New York)

Superb top level production of a novel and rewarding new American play (by a Wenatchee-born writer) at HERE, New York’s downtown treasure. Reed Birney is extraordinary close up. Despite several topics that in lesser hands could feel quirky, this story is authentic and unexpected. A completely satisfying theatrical experience.

New Yorkers who rarely intersect become part of each other’s stories | WHEN JANUARY FEELS LIKE SUMMER by Cori Thomas at Page 73

Different ethnic worlds move into the same orbit in this contemporary story from an ever globalizing and changing New York. A little too much going on, and the play suddenly expands in the final section instead of narrowing. Debargo Sanyal outstanding as young East Asian man who becomes a woman.
