For a good name, keep it short

What’s the number one reason you want a short and memorable name for your theatre?

So that it shows up clearly in the FROM column in your audience member’s mobile inbox.

While naming your new venture something like “The marvelous staggeringly good Shakespearian repertory theater company project” may seem like a good idea at the time, when you start messaging your audience (assuming you have one), your name is going to get elided, and all people will see is something like “The marvelous stag…”.

And that’s when they hit delete. Because they don’t know what that it is.

The era of simple, short names is here. Great products have great names – usually one word.

Put on the poet’s hat and keep it short.
