South of the border: EYES FOR CONSUELA is an odd, highly poetic vision

EYES FOR CONSUELA by Sam Shepard at Profile Theatre

Not one of Shepard’s best works. The two main characters strangely at odds tonally and seem to be in two different plays: one dark, serious, threatening; the other closer to sitcom humor and gesture. This alternating and unresolved tension makes it hard for audience to understand which genre we’re in.
