If you’re a real fan of the American theatre, you know about Amy Freed.
Perhaps you recall her previous works like FREDOOMLAND or RESTORATION COMEDY or THE BEARD OF AVON (which was so memorably done in rep with TWELFTH NIGHT at PCS a few years back).
If you do, you know this woman can write. And is she ever funny.
Freed’s one of those slightly off the beaten path gems of the American theatre – not quite as well known as she should be, but a potent creator nonetheless.
A world premiere of an Amy Freed play (in Portland?!) easily shoots to the top of the season list. How exciting is that?
But it’s not just the text. There’s also a strong cast assembled, including OSF’s impossibly good Michael Elich.
So buckle in and get ready.
THE MONSTER-BUILDER opens February 1 at Artists Rep.
Check out this PoMo interview with Freed from last fall.
