After intriguing setup, story grows increasingly implausible. Absence of technology – at least in the hands of the state – is what rings falsest in this imagined future world. Also, sturdy rural English (of any era) would never tolerate intrusions like this. Non-stop scene changes deflate dramatic buildup. Accents are a challenge.
