Nature abhors a vacuum

She also abhors a Portland theatre season without a few clear standout favorites.

So far, the 2013-14 season in Stumptown has been serviceable, with some strong shows like THE BIG MEAL, SWEET AND SAD, DIARY OF A MADMAN, and FIDDLER ON THE ROOF making the scene.

But nothing feels truly memorable.

Not just yet.

By the law of averages, however, something is bound to come along between now and Christmas that will fully land and remain one of the season highlights.

So what will it be?

My bet is one (or more) of these:

10.11 – 11.9 Shaking The Tree – WILDE TALES
10.11 – 11.16 defunkt theatre – THE SUBMISSION by Jeff Talbott
10.29 – 12.1 Artists Repertory Theatre – FOXFINDER by Dawn King
11.7-24 Portland Experimental Theatre Ensemble – SONG OF THE DODO
11.13 – 12.8 Portland Playhouse – THE OTHER PLACE by Sharr White
11.14 – 12.1 Liminal Performance Group – OUR TOWN by Thornton Wilder
12.6 – 1.5 Third Rail Repertory Theatre – NOISES OFF by Michael Frayn
