Winter is heating up | A few picks for mid season

The holidays are over, the town is abuzz, and the audience is ready for action.

Which is good. Because as it so happens – here comes action.

Every year Portland’s smaller stealth shows deliver a disproportionate amount of theatrical shock and awe. And this year looks like no exception. Don’t miss out on seeing some of the exciting up and comers do their stuff.

Two outfits in particular that are hitting their stride are Boom Arts and Portland Experimental Theatre Ensemble. You’d be downright nuts to miss their next shows.

So cross off your New Year’s resolutions (whether or not they’re “mission accomplished” – there’s always next year) and instead make some room on your to do list for a few of these.

1.16 – 2.7 CoHo Productions – THE SNOWSTORM by Eric Nordin
1.15 – 2.8 Action/Adventure Theatre – SIDEKICKS: SEASON TWO
1.22-31 Yocto Theatre – GENUIS by Sean Bowie
1.22 – 2.8 Portland Experimental Theatre Ensemble – ENTER THE NIGHT by Maria Irene Fornes
1.23-31 David Saffert’s 40th Birthday
1.24 Back Fence PDX
1.28 – 2.7 Boom Arts – I’D RATHER GOYA ROBBED ME OF MY SLEEP THAN SOME OTHER SON OF A B*TCH by Rodrigo García
2.4-22 Portland Playhouse – HOW TO END POVERTY IN 90 MINUTES
2.12 – 3.7 THE GOD GAME by Suzanne Bradbeer
2.20 – 3.14 Third Rail Rep – THE NIGHT ALIVE by Conor McPherson
2.21 – 3.22 Portland Center Stage – OTHER DESERT CITIES by Jon Robin Baitz

So far the winter of 2015 in Portland is looking nothing like last year’s snowpocalypse. But there’s still time…
